Matariki Poem.

Matariki 7 stars shining brightly
the sky shows a new year
Maori Celebrate
smell of hangi cooking
taste the tender, juicy meat.
smelling campfire wood,  burning
people tell the legend
and in the morning when getting up early to see the stars from the East Side
Smelling the moisture in the air well looking for them.
The sound of animals running wild and the smell of pig being cooked and people letting off lanterns in the pitch black sky
Matariki is here.
